Lisa Poushinsky grew up in the Ottawa area where she attended Canterbury, an arts intensive high school. After receiving a B.A. in Art History from Carleton University, she fell in love with glass at Sheridan College (Oakville), where she specialized in combining blown glass with sand casting under the mentorship of Governor General award winner Kevin Lockau.
After graduating from Sheridan and applying across North America for a master’s degree in sculpture, Lisa developed Multiple Sclerosis and was forced to change her plans; pursuing her second love, music, allowed Lisa to follow a creative path while convalescing. Thirteen years later, Lisa is thrilled to be returning to sculpture and is grateful for the chance to blow glass again!! You can find Lisa at Flo on Fridays. Lisa is looking forward to building a new relationship with glass and the Ottawa arts community, and is proud to be included in the teaching team at Flo.
Lisa has been teaching art and music classes to groups and individuals of all ages for over twenty years. Highlights include teaching Figure Drawing at Sheridan College, developing and teaching the art and music curriculum for 18 month to 5 year olds for two Acorn Early Learning Centres in Ottawa, and developing and teaching a grade 9 guitar course and a noon hour choir program for the French Catholic School Board at Sainte Marguerite Bourgeoys, Kemptville.
